Anfang April 2026 hat Odoo bei den Partner Days die offizielle Roadmap für Version 20 vorgestellt. Der zentrale Shift dieser Version, soviel kann man jetzt schon sagen, ist der Sprung von assistierenden zu agentischen KI-Features. Was das konkret bedeutet, welche vier KI-Bereiche bestätigt sind und was bereits in der frisch veröffentlichten Version 19.3 ankommt, in diesem Überblick.

Odoo veröffentlicht jährlich im Herbst eine neue Hauptversion und liefert dazwischen drei Minor-Releases. Die aktuelle Lage:

Odoo 19 ist seit September 2025 live und hat das KI-Fundament gelegt: eine dedizierte AI-App als zentraler Hub, AI-Agents, das „Ask AI" Natural-Language-Interface über Strg+K, sowie prompt-basierte Server Actions. Unter der Haube spricht Odoo mit OpenAI und Google Gemini, weitere Provider lassen sich anbinden.

Odoo 19.3 ist Mitte Mai 2026 erschienen und bringt unter anderem den neuen AI Website Assistant. Damit lässt sich die Website konversationell editieren: Snippets auswählen und ändern, Bilder aus Unsplash holen oder generieren, Web-Inhalte live abrufen, alles über ein Chat-Interface direkt im Builder. Die offiziellen Release Notes zu 19.3 listen die vollständige Feature-Liste.

Odoo 20 wird auf der Odoo Experience 2026 in Brüssel vom 24. bis 26. September offiziell vorgestellt und kurz danach allgemein verfügbar. Die Roadmap wurde am 2. April 2026 von Luc Nailis, Product Owner bei Odoo, auf den Partner Days präsentiert.

Wichtiger Disclaimer: Odoo bezeichnet die Partner-Days-Roadmap selbst humorvoll als „Liste von Sachen, die wir vielleicht machen". Bis zur Odoo Experience im September können sich Features verschieben, Namen ändern oder ganz wegfallen. Was hier folgt, ist der Stand der bestätigten Roadmap zum Zeitpunkt Mai 2026, nicht eine garantierte Feature-Liste.

Der zentrale Shift: von assistierender zu agentischer KI.

In den Versionen 17 bis 19 hat Odoo KI schrittweise näher an die tägliche Arbeit herangerückt. Version 17 brachte Content-Generierung, Version 18 OCR und Daten-Extraktion, Version 19 die erste echte AI-Infrastruktur mit konfigurierbaren Agents und Natural-Language-Search.

Was diese Features verbindet: sie sind reaktiv. Der Nutzer formuliert einen Prompt, die KI antwortet. Lead scoren? Prompt. Email entwerfen? Prompt. Dokument zusammenfassen? Prompt.

Odoo 20 macht jetzt den Schritt zu agentischer KI. Statt auf einzelne Prompts zu reagieren, führen Agents mehrstufige Workflows autonom durch. Ein Beispiel aus der Roadmap: ein Accounting-Agent läuft die quartalsweise Treasury-Checkliste eigenständig durch, prüft Bank-Statements, flaggt Anomalien, kontrolliert Reconciliation und liefert strukturierte Findings, ohne dass jemand Schritt für Schritt promptet.

Der Unterschied klingt subtil. In der täglichen Anwendung ist er fundamental: weniger Hin-und-Her zwischen Nutzer und System, dafür Ergebnisse aus mehreren Quellen und Modulen in einem Durchlauf.

Vier bestätigte KI-Bereiche in Odoo 20.

Die Roadmap zeigt KI nicht als zusätzlichen Layer, sondern als funktionalen Teilnehmer in bestehenden Workflows. Vier Bereiche sind konkret bestätigt:

Accounting AI Agent

Unter dem Titel „Accounting for non-CFOs" zeigt die Roadmap einen autonomen Audit-Agenten. Er läuft die quartalsweise Treasury- und Finance-Checkliste eigenständig durch: Bank-Statements reviewen, Reconciliation prüfen, Anomalien flaggen, strukturierte Befunde liefern.

Der Punkt dabei ist nicht „KI macht Buchhaltung", sondern: Routine-Audits, die heute halbe Tage kosten, werden zu einem Knopfdruck plus menschlicher Review der Ergebnisse.

Reduce manual work, speed up decision-making, support users who are not domain experts.

AI Create / Update Records

Datensätze über Natural-Language-Prompts anlegen, ändern oder umverteilen, modulübergreifend. Drei konkrete Beispiele aus der Roadmap:

Erstens, alle Leads von einer Vertrieblerin auf eine andere umverteilen durch einen einzigen Satz. Zweitens, aus einem PDF-Dokument (etwa einem Lasten- oder Pflichtenheft) automatisch ein Projekt mit Stages und Tasks erzeugen. Drittens, operative Daten in Echtzeit modulübergreifend abfragen, ohne vorher eine View bauen zu müssen.

AI Website Assistant (Pro)

Eine ausgebaute Version dessen, was in 19.3 schon teilweise da ist. In Odoo 20 akzeptiert der Assistant mehrere Instructions in einem einzigen Prompt und führt alle Änderungen auf einmal aus, statt einzeln nacheinander.

Dazu kommt die Bild-Generierung on demand: der Assistant erzeugt kontextuell passende Bilder für die Page, statt nur aus Stock-Bibliotheken zu wählen. Beides verändert, wie schnell man eine Landing-Page produktionsreif bekommt.

Helpdesk AI Sidebar

Jedes Ticket bekommt eine eingebettete KI-Seitenleiste. Drei Funktionen sind in der Roadmap genannt: die laufende Chatter-Konversation zusammenfassen, eine Follow-up-Antwort entwerfen, und in der Helpdesk-Historie nach ähnlichen Tickets mit erfolgreichen Lösungen suchen.

Damit verschiebt sich der Hebel im Support von „Tickets bearbeiten" zu „Vorschläge prüfen und freigeben". Besonders relevant für Helpdesk-Teams mit Standard-Anfragen, die heute ähnliche Antworten manuell schreiben.

Bonus: AI Timesheet Assistant

Ein kleineres, aber im Alltag spürbares Feature aus der Roadmap: der Timesheet-Assistant schlägt Zeit-Einträge auf Basis der tatsächlichen System-Aktivität vor, also bearbeitete Tasks, gesendete Nachrichten, geöffnete Records, gruppiert nach Projekt. Statt am Wochenende mühsam zu rekonstruieren, was man getan hat, bekommt man einen sortierten Vorschlag, den man nur noch bestätigt.

Was schon in Odoo 19.3 ankommt.

Wer auf 19 ist und das 19.3-Update einspielt, bekommt einen Teil dessen, was 20 vollständig ausbauen wird, schon jetzt:

AI Website Assistant: konversationelles Website-Building

Statt im Frontend-Editor jedes Snippet manuell zu konfigurieren, beschreibt man die gewünschte Änderung in normaler Sprache. Der Assistant wählt das passende Snippet aus, modifiziert es, integriert Bilder (entweder aus der Unsplash-Bibliothek oder per KI-Generierung) und kann sogar Inhalte aus dem Web ziehen.

AI Agent als Records-Updater

Schon in 19.3 kann der AI-Agent neue Records auf Basis von hochgeladenen Dateien anlegen, etwa ein PDF mit Instructions zu einem Projekt mit Stages und Tasks verarbeiten. In Odoo 20 wird das auf weitere Module ausgebaut.

Mobile-Verbesserungen

Eine Command Palette, die mit einem Swipe-Down auf dem Dashboard aufgeht, plus die Möglichkeit, Records offline anzulegen, zu bearbeiten, zu archivieren oder zu löschen. Beim nächsten Sync gleicht Odoo automatisch ab. Macht Außendienst- und Mobile-Szenarien spürbar entspannter.

Parallel-Thema: odoo.sh + Claude Code.

Anfang 2026 hat Fabien Pinckaers, Gründer und CEO von Odoo, eine zweite, von den Versionen entkoppelte Initiative angekündigt: Claude Code direkt in der odoo.sh-Entwicklungsumgebung. Das Konzept wird intern als „Vibe Coding" gerahmt, mit drei Bausteinen:

„The Bricks": die Odoo-Standard-Apps als Fundament

Statt von Null zu starten, baut die KI auf den bestehenden, produktiv erprobten Modulen auf (CRM, Accounting, HR, Inventory, etc.).

„The Vibe": Code-Generierung im Dialog

Der Entwickler beschreibt im Terminal, was er bauen will, etwa „erstelle ein Modul, das bei jeder Sales Order einen Referral-Bonus hinzufügt". Claude Code geht in einen Plan-Mode, analysiert die Modul-Struktur, stellt klärende Rückfragen wie ein erfahrener Business-Analyst und schreibt dann den Code.

„The Platform": odoo.sh als Deployment-Schicht

Das generierte Modul lässt sich direkt aus der odoo.sh-Konsole auf eine Staging-Umgebung pushen.

Ehrliche Einordnung: Die Integration ist im April 2026 noch jung und in der Praxis nicht völlig reibungslos. Erste Erfahrungsberichte von Anwendern zeigen, dass Claude Code im odoo.sh-Terminal punktuell holpert, etwa beim Commit auf Staging-Umgebungen. Eine native Anthropic-Claude-Integration in Odoo Core (vergleichbar mit der bestehenden OpenAI-Anbindung) ist Stand jetzt nicht angekündigt. Das Vibe-Coding-Setup ist also ein Entwickler-Tool auf odoo.sh, kein Endnutzer-Feature in der Odoo-App selbst.

Der strategische Punkt bleibt: weil Odoo Open Source ist, kennt das KI-Modell den vollständigen Quellcode der Plattform. Das macht generierten Code deutlich präziser und reduziert Halluzinationen, die bei proprietären Systemen typisch sind.

Was außerhalb von KI noch in Odoo 20 kommt.

Die Roadmap deckt deutlich mehr ab als nur KI. Einige bestätigte Verbesserungen aus dem Partner-Days-Deck:

Neue Schritt-Typen, darunter WhatsApp, Coupon, AI-Action, Split, Filter, Delay und Interaction-Steps, neben Email und SMS.

Neue Datenbank-Architektur, die explizit die Skalierung auf mehr als 10.000 gleichzeitige Nutzer adressiert. Für Enterprise-Deployments relevant.

Häufige Fragen zu Odoo 20 und den KI-Features.

Odoo 20 wird auf der Odoo Experience 2026 in Brüssel offiziell vorgestellt. Das Event findet vom 24. bis 26. September 2026 statt. Die General Availability folgt typischerweise wenige Wochen nach der Keynote, im Oktober oder November 2026. Wer einen stabilen Produktivstart anstrebt, plant erfahrungsgemäß lieber mit dem ersten Maintenance-Update, also Anfang 2027.

Odoo 19 hat die Infrastruktur für KI gebaut: eine zentrale AI-App, konfigurierbare Agents, Natural-Language-Search über Strg+K, prompt-basierte Server Actions. Die Features sind reaktiv, das System antwortet auf Prompts.

Standardmäßig spricht Odoo 19 mit OpenAI (ChatGPT) und Google Gemini. Weitere Provider lassen sich über das modulare AI-Framework anbinden. In Odoo 20 wird das Framework laut Roadmap noch flexibler, ein konkretes Statement zu zusätzlichen nativen Providern gibt es zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt aber nicht. Für Unternehmen mit DSGVO-Anforderungen oder Datenresidenz-Auflagen ist relevant, dass auch eigene, in Deutschland gehostete Sprachmodelle wie PrimeHive AI® eingebunden werden können.

Vibe Coding ist eine von den Versionen entkoppelte Initiative: Claude Code (das CLI-Tool von Anthropic) ist in die odoo.sh-Entwicklungsumgebung integriert. Entwickler beschreiben im Terminal in natürlicher Sprache, was sie bauen wollen, und Claude generiert das passende Odoo-Modul, das anschließend auf Staging gepusht werden kann. Weil Odoo Open Source ist, kennt das Modell den vollständigen Quellcode der Plattform, das reduziert typische KI-Halluzinationen deutlich. Wichtig: das ist ein Entwickler-Tool auf odoo.sh, kein Endnutzer-Feature in Odoo selbst. Eine native Claude-Integration in Odoo Core ist Stand jetzt nicht angekündigt.

Die meisten KI-Features sind Enterprise-only oder benötigen eine Anbindung an einen LLM-Provider, die in der Standard-Enterprise-Subscription enthalten ist. Community-Nutzer können einzelne KI-Funktionen über eigene Module nachrüsten, aber das volle integrierte Setup mit Ask AI, AI Agents und den modulspezifischen KI-Features setzt Enterprise voraus. Für 20 ist dieser Zuschnitt nicht offiziell bestätigt, eine Änderung der bisherigen Linie wird aber nicht erwartet.

Pauschal nicht beantwortbar, weil die richtige Antwort von mehreren Faktoren abhängt, die für jedes Unternehmen anders gewichtet sind: welche Features ihr konkret braucht und ob diese in 19.3 schon enthalten oder erst für 20 angekündigt sind, wie euer Zeitplan aussieht (kann ein Live-Termin auf den Spätherbst oder Anfang 2027 verschoben werden), wie tief eure Customizations sind und welche Anpassungen ein Versions-Sprung bedeuten würde, sowie eure Risiko-Toleranz bei einer frisch released Version gegenüber einer reiferen.

Eine fundierte Antwort darauf bekommt ihr in einem konkreten Strategiegespräch, in dem wir euren aktuellen Stand und eure Ziele anschauen.

Odoo selbst nennt die Partner-Days-Roadmap eine „Liste von Sachen, die wir vielleicht machen". Erfahrungsgemäß landen die meisten angekündigten Features in der finalen Version, einzelne können sich aber verschieben, umbenennen oder im Funktionsumfang verändern. Das gilt insbesondere für die KI-Features, weil deren Reife oft erst in den späten Beta-Phasen wirklich messbar wird. Verbindlich wird die Liste mit der Keynote auf der Odoo Experience im September.

Sobald Odoos KI-Features einen externen LLM-Provider nutzen, verlassen die Prompts und damit Auszüge eurer Geschäftsdaten die Odoo-Datenbank. Das ist je nach Provider und Setup datenschutzrechtlich heikel, gerade bei sensiblen Branchen oder besonderen Kategorien personenbezogener Daten. Odoo 20 bringt technische Veränderungen unter der Haube, insbesondere den Wechsel auf Owl 3 im Frontend-Framework und die schrittweise Abschaffung der älteren XML-RPC-Schnittstelle. Module, die sich auf Internals oder ältere APIs stützen, brauchen typischerweise Anpassungen. Eine Inventur eurer Customizations jetzt zu machen, ist die Grundlage für eine realistische Upgrade-Planung, unabhängig davon, wann ihr auf 20 wechselt.

In early April 2026, Odoo presented the official roadmap for version 20 at Partner Days. The central shift in this release, as much as we can say already, is the jump from assistive to agentic AI features. What that means in concrete terms, which four AI areas are confirmed, and what is already shipping in the freshly released version 19.3, is the subject of this overview.

Where we stand in mid-2026.

Odoo ships a new major version every autumn, with three minor releases in between. The current state of play:

Odoo 19 has been live since September 2025 and laid the AI foundation: a dedicated AI app as a central hub, AI agents, the „Ask AI" natural language interface via Ctrl+K, and prompt-based server actions. Under the hood, Odoo talks to OpenAI and Google Gemini, with additional providers connectable.

Odoo 19.3 shipped in mid-May 2026 and brings, among other things, the new AI Website Assistant. With it, you can edit your website conversationally: pick and modify snippets, pull images from Unsplash or generate them, retrieve web content live, all through a chat interface directly in the builder. The official 19.3 release notes list the full feature set.

Odoo 20 will be officially announced at Odoo Experience 2026 in Brussels from 24 to 26 September, with general availability shortly after. The roadmap was presented on 2 April 2026 by Luc Nailis, Product Owner at Odoo, at Partner Days.

Important disclaimer: Odoo itself humorously calls the Partner Days roadmap a „list of things we will maybe do". Until the Odoo Experience in September, features can shift, get renamed or be dropped entirely. What follows is the state of the confirmed roadmap as of May 2026, not a guaranteed feature list.

The central shift: from assistive to agentic AI.

In versions 17 through 19, Odoo moved AI progressively closer to daily work. Version 17 brought content generation, version 18 OCR and data extraction, version 19 the first real AI infrastructure with configurable agents and natural language search.

What these features share is that they are reactive. The user formulates a prompt, the AI responds. Score a lead? Prompt. Draft an email? Prompt. Summarise a document? Prompt.

Odoo 20 now takes the step toward agentic AI. Instead of reacting to individual prompts, agents execute multi-step workflows autonomously. One example from the roadmap: an accounting agent runs the quarterly treasury checklist on its own, reviews bank statements, flags anomalies, checks reconciliation, and delivers structured findings, without anyone prompting step by step.

The difference sounds subtle. In daily practice it is fundamental: less back-and-forth between user and system, more results pulled from several sources and modules in one pass.

Four confirmed AI areas in Odoo 20.

The roadmap shows AI not as an additional layer, but as a functional participant inside existing workflows. Four areas are concretely confirmed:

Accounting AI Agent

Under the heading „Accounting for non-CFOs", the roadmap shows an autonomous audit agent. It runs the quarterly treasury and finance checklist independently: reviewing bank statements, checking reconciliation, flagging anomalies, delivering structured findings.

The point here is not „AI does accounting" but: routine audits that currently take half a day become a button press plus a human review of the output.

Reduce manual work, speed up decision-making, support users who are not domain experts.

AI Create / Update Records

Create, modify, or reassign records through natural-language prompts, across modules. Three concrete examples from the roadmap:

First, reassign all leads from one sales rep to another with a single sentence. Second, automatically create a project with stages and tasks from a PDF document (such as a brief or requirements spec). Third, query operational data across modules in real time, without having to build a view first.

AI Website Assistant (Pro)

An expanded version of what already partly exists in 19.3. In Odoo 20, the assistant accepts several instructions in a single prompt and applies all changes at once, instead of one after the other.

On top of that, on-demand image generation: the assistant produces contextually appropriate images for the page, instead of just picking from stock libraries. Both change how fast you can get a landing page production-ready.

Helpdesk AI Sidebar

Every ticket gets an embedded AI sidebar. Three functions are named in the roadmap: summarise the running chatter conversation, draft a follow-up reply, and search the helpdesk history for similar tickets with successful resolutions.

The leverage in support shifts from „working tickets" to „reviewing and approving suggestions". Especially relevant for helpdesk teams with standard inquiries who currently write similar answers manually.

Bonus: AI Timesheet Assistant

A smaller but daily-noticeable feature from the roadmap: the timesheet assistant suggests time entries based on actual system activity, edited tasks, sent messages, opened records, grouped by project. Instead of painfully reconstructing your week on a Friday afternoon, you get a sorted suggestion that you only need to confirm.

What's already shipping in Odoo 19.3.

Anyone on 19 who applies the 19.3 update gets part of what 20 will fully build out, already today:

AI Website Assistant: conversational website building

Instead of configuring every snippet manually in the front-end editor, you describe the desired change in plain language. The assistant picks the right snippet, modifies it, integrates images (either from the Unsplash library or via AI generation) and can even pull content live from the web.

AI Agent as records updater

Already in 19.3, the AI agent can create new records based on uploaded files, for example processing a PDF with instructions into a project with stages and tasks. In Odoo 20, this expands to further modules.

Mobile improvements

A command palette that opens with a swipe-down on the dashboard, plus the ability to create, edit, archive or delete records offline. At the next sync, Odoo reconciles automatically. Makes field and mobile scenarios noticeably less stressful.

Parallel topic: odoo.sh + Claude Code.

In early 2026, Fabien Pinckaers, founder and CEO of Odoo, announced a second initiative, decoupled from the version releases: Claude Code directly inside the odoo.sh development environment. The concept is framed internally as „Vibe Coding", with three building blocks:

„The Bricks": Odoo standard apps as foundation

Instead of starting from zero, the AI builds on existing, production-tested modules (CRM, Accounting, HR, Inventory, etc.).

„The Vibe": code generation in dialogue

The developer describes in the terminal what they want to build, for example „create a module that adds a referral bonus to every sales order". Claude Code enters a plan mode, analyses the module structure, asks clarifying questions like an experienced business analyst, and then writes the code.

„The Platform": odoo.sh as deployment layer

The generated module can be pushed to a staging environment directly from the odoo.sh console.

Honest framing: As of April 2026, the integration is still young and not entirely frictionless in practice. First reports from users show that Claude Code in the odoo.sh terminal stumbles in places, for example when committing to staging environments. A native Anthropic Claude integration into Odoo core (comparable to the existing OpenAI connection) is not announced at this point. The vibe coding setup is therefore a developer tool on odoo.sh, not an end-user feature in the Odoo app itself.

The strategic point remains: because Odoo is open source, the AI model knows the full source code of the platform. That makes generated code significantly more accurate and reduces the hallucinations typical with proprietary systems.

What's coming outside AI in Odoo 20.

The roadmap covers far more than AI. Some confirmed improvements from the Partner Days deck:

Payroll overhaul

New dashboard surfacing pay-run blockers up front, plus elimination of the work-entries intermediate step.

Point of Sale

Browser-based hardware detection without certificate import, automatic combo recognition, floor-plan editor, new payment providers.

Complete mobile redesign

A dedicated mobile UI, built from the ground up for phones, instead of shrunken desktop views on a small screen.

VOIP with global numbers

Odoo 20 will be officially announced at Odoo Experience 2026 in Brussels. The event runs from 24 to 26 September 2026. General availability typically follows a few weeks after the keynote, in October or November 2026. Anyone aiming for a stable production start usually plans with the first maintenance update, so early 2027.

Odoo 19 built the AI infrastructure: a central AI app, configurable agents, natural language search via Ctrl+K, prompt-based server actions. The features are reactive, the system responds to prompts.

Odoo 20 builds agentic workflows on top of that. Instead of single responses, agents execute multi-step tasks autonomously. Example: an accounting agent in 20 runs a quarterly audit checklist independently, without anyone formulating individual prompts. That's the qualitative change.

The key AI features in 19.3 are the AI Website Assistant for conversational website editing, the ability of the AI agent to create records based on uploaded files (e.g., a project with stages and tasks from a PDF), and AI-powered image and button generation for websites and mailings. By default, Odoo 19 connects to OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Google Gemini. Additional providers can be connected through the modular AI framework. In Odoo 20, the roadmap indicates a more flexible framework, but no specific statement about additional native providers has been made so far. For companies with GDPR or data-residency requirements, it's relevant that you can also plug in your own EU-hosted language models such as PrimeHive AI®.

Vibe coding is an initiative decoupled from version releases: Claude Code (Anthropic's CLI tool) is integrated into the odoo.sh development environment. Developers describe in the terminal in natural language what they want to build, and Claude generates the corresponding Odoo module, which can then be pushed to staging. Because Odoo is open source, the model knows the full source code of the platform, significantly reducing typical AI hallucinations. Important: this is a developer tool on odoo.sh, not an end-user feature inside Odoo itself. A native Claude integration into Odoo core is not announced at this point.

Most AI features are Enterprise-only or require a connection to an LLM provider that's included in the standard Enterprise subscription. Community users can retrofit individual AI functions through custom modules, but the full integrated setup with Ask AI, AI agents, and module-specific AI features requires Enterprise. For 20, this cut is not officially confirmed yet, but a change from the existing approach is not expected.

Not answerable in the abstract, because the right answer depends on several factors that each company weighs differently: which features you concretely need and whether those are already in 19.3 or only announced for 20, what your timeline looks like (can a go-live be moved to late autumn or early 2027), how deep your customisations run and what a version jump would mean for them, and your risk tolerance for a freshly released version compared to a more mature one.

Odoo itself calls the Partner Days roadmap a „list of things we will maybe do". Based on experience, most announced features land in the final version, but individual ones can be delayed, renamed, or change in scope. That applies particularly to the AI features, whose maturity often only becomes measurable in the late beta phases. The list becomes binding with the keynote at Odoo Experience in September.

As soon as Odoo's AI features use an external LLM provider, prompts and excerpts of your business data leave the Odoo database. Depending on the provider and setup, that can be legally sensitive, particularly in regulated industries or with special categories of personal data. If you want to be on the safe side, you either use your own EU-hosted models or plug in providers like PrimeHive AI® that run in German data centres and deliver clean DPAs. Odoo 20 brings technical changes under the hood, particularly the move to Owl 3 in the front-end framework and the gradual retirement of the older XML-RPC interface. Modules that rely on internals or older APIs typically need adjustments. Doing an inventory of your customisations now is the basis for realistic upgrade planning, regardless of when you actually move to 20.
